Wheelchair Accessible Glamping Pods
Amongst the miniature cul-de-sac of glamping units, sit two wheelchair accessible OmniPods - One based on our Piccolo design (sleeping up to 3 adults), and the other based on our Medio design (sleeping up to 3 adults and 2 children). Both have been affectionately named after small birds - Rock Pipit and Meadow Pipit.
Rock Pipit is the smaller of the pods, with two remote-controlled profiling beds fitted with luxurious orthopaedic mattresses, and a pull-out futon ideal for a third guest. Meadow Pipit has all of the above, plus an additional small bunkbed room which is perfect for sleeping two children or small adults.
Aside from the sleeping arrangements, both pods are virtually identical, and some of the features include:
One allocated parking space nearby.
Ramped access leading to our signature covered deck.
Spacious interiors, with 1.5m turning circles throughout.
A lowered-height kitchen with a fridge, microwave, 2-burner stove and wheel-under sink.
Wet room with stylish, fold-out shower seat, wheel-under sink and grab handles in all the right places.
Underfloor heating.
Remote-controlled blinds.
Vibrating and strobe fire alarms for the hard of hearing.
Easy-pour kettle.
One disposable BBQ and an adjustable-height BBQ station is allocated to each pod.
There are no hoists, but there is ample space and room under the beds for hoist legs if you wish to bring your own.

Things To Do Nearby
From rolling hills, coastal views and quaint villages, to charming market towns and historical cities full of culture, North Yorkshire has something for everyone! Here are just a few ideas that are within reaching distance from the glamping pods at Cayton Village:
Whitby Abbey
Perching high on the cliff top, with the ocean as its backdrop, the gothic ruins of Whitby Abbey stand as tall and as proud as they have done for almost 1500 years. Originally built as a monastery, then later inspiring the famous Dracula novels, these atmospheric ruins are now managed by English Heritage and are a popular attraction to the area, bringing in visitors from all over the world. With ramps between each level, everyone can enjoy getting up close and personal to these 7th century ruins.
Other accessibility features include; 2 disabled parking bays, an accessible toilet, an easier route to the abbey, wheelchair hire and a lift in the museum.
A Day At The Seaside
Winning The Sunday Times’ “Beach Of The Year” in 2018, just 5 miles from the campsite is Filey Beach. This golden stretch of sand reaches for 5 miles, and is one of the more peaceful beaches in the area. There is on-street parking (including disabled bays) alongside the promenade, which makes it a lovely place to go for an accessible stroll, with cafes to stop at along the way. The sand is fairly firm, so you may find it manageable even in a wheelchair. If you’d like to give it a go, there is ramped access to the sand via slipways at the northern and southern ends of the promenade.
If you are looking for a beach with specialised beach wheelchairs for hire, you might prefer travelling 9 miles further south to the popular seaside town of Bridlington. Here they have 3 for hire, 2 of which float, meaning you can use them in the sea.
Peasholm Park
These Japanese-inspired landscaped gardens offer a peaceful little oasis nestled amongst the hustle and bustle of Scarborough. With a natural stream running through it, you can walk along the selection of easily accessible tarmac paths, enjoy the Japanese sculptures and bridges or simply relax under a weeping willow at the edge of Peasholm Lake. In the summer months you can watch the free, open-air concerts from the bandstand and try your hand at boating, with a choice of traditional rowing boats, dragon-head pedaloes and canoes. It’s not all calm though, as the park holds a Navel Warfare event each year, where you can purchase tickets to watch the array of replica boats fighting it out in the “Battle of Peasholm”.
The Finest View In England
Sitting almost 300 metres above the hills and valleys of The North York Moors National Park is “The Finest View In England”, as named by the famous author and veterinary surgeon - James Herriot. Looking out over the vast panoramic views, the trees in the woodlands below look like colonies of ants, and the lakes in the distance become mere puddles. On a clear day, you can see for miles and miles!
To get to the viewpoint, just follow the short walking route from Sutton Bank National Park Centre. This route is less than a mile long and is suitable for wheelchair users, with the terrain being a mixture of tarmac, gravel and woodland-floor. There are disabled parking bays in the main car park, as well a visitors centre with a cafe and toilet facilities.
